The Poster for Beef, Butter Truffles and Wine.Adelaide Central Market is much more than a meeting place for friends, a place to purchase fresh local produce, and a place to get a bargain on Saturday morning. Adelaide Central Market also offers activities on Fridaya, always food centred, often focussing on local produce.

This Friday 6th of July at 5pm, four greats of the Australian food and wine community will be at the south-west corner of the Adelaide Central Markets for Beef, Butter, Truffles and Wine. Until 7:30pm there will be an opportunity to talk with them and taste their produce. Beef, Butter, Truffles and Wine promises to be an excellent display of food and wine… and the best bit? It’s all free!

Butter maker Pierre Issa, of Pepe Saya Butter, will display his wares and reflect upon his memories of his grandfather spreading butter ‘like cheese on toast’ as he tells you about his hand-made, locally sourced, salted butters which have been requested for the finest tables in Australia.

Equal to his standard is truffle grower Duncan Garvey of Perigord Truffles of Tasmania. It is the beginning of the truffle season, so you can can expect seasonal insights and some local knowledge. Also, you may not have had the chance to indulge in this exceptional commodity. As Duncan and Pierre combine it will be possible for you taste the creamy, earthy flavour of truffles as Pierre’s butter melts in your mouth.

These two will be joined by Richard Gunner, owner of Feast! Fine Foods. and Coorong Angas Beef. Richard is most noted for his work on animal genetics, focused on meat quality. His butchering gives him total control over the flavour and quality of the cut. The tasting will be a chance for him to showcase his flat iron steak – also known as feather or oysterblade steak.

Wine legend in the making Corrina Wright will be showing off newly released white wines from Oliver’s Taranga of McLaren Vale, Fiano and Vermentino. She will also bring with her Sagrantino, Grenache, and a hearty Shiraz.

You can follow all the details on Twitter with the #BBTW hashtag, and follow the producers: @OliversTaranga, @PepeSaya, @duncangarvey and @Richard_Gunner. Finally, if you enjoy the event follow Adelaide Central Market via @mycentralmarket for further events.
